What it is
Snakes and Ladders began in India as Moksha Patam, a board game about good and bad deeds, and is still played in homes everywhere as Saanp Seedhi. Everyone starts at the bottom of a numbered board and takes turns rolling one die. Ladders carry you up the board and snakes slide you back down. Whoever reaches the last square first wins.
On Khel ON, two to four players share the board in any mix of people and bots. Pick one of four boards made for Khel ON, from the gentle Sunny Garden to the wild Jungle River and the small Tiny Pond for the youngest players. The Learning Trail and Tiny Pond have star squares that ask a quick counting or shape question. Get it right to hop forward and earn a star. There are no coins, chips or betting.

How to play
Roll the die
Tap the die and hop your token forward that many squares. Everyone starts just before square 1, and a 6 gives you another roll.
Climb ladders
Land at the bottom of a ladder and you climb straight to the top of it.
Watch out for snakes
Land on a snake's head and you slide down to its tail. It's all luck, so anyone can win.
Reach the flag
The first player to land on the last square wins. Roll too high near the end and you bounce back, or switch to exact roll or any roll in the rules.
Four boards
Sunny Garden
Lots of ladders and short, gentle snakes. A good first board.
Learning Trail
Star squares ask counting, shape and pattern questions. A right answer hops you forward two squares.
Jungle River
Long ladders and sneaky snakes, including one right next to the flag.
Tiny Pond
A quick 36-square board with easy counting and shape questions for the youngest players.
