What it is

Bhabhi is a card game played across Punjab, in India and Pakistan, and in Bangladesh, where it is also called Bhabhi Thulla or Getaway. The whole pack is dealt out and everyone tries to get rid of their cards. Follow suit and the cards go to the pile; run out of a suit and you can play anything, but that stops the round and someone has to pick the whole lot up. The last player still holding cards loses the round.

On Khel ON you play with three to six players: you against bots at Easy, Normal or Hard, or friends passing one phone. A guided first game explains each move as it happens, and the Hint button shows a good card. You earn stars and badges, saved on your own device. There is no betting.

How to play

  1. Deal everything out

All 52 cards are dealt. Whoever holds the ace of spades starts by playing it, and everyone plays a spade if they can. The first round goes to the pile even if someone has no spade.

  2. Follow suit

The leader plays any card and everyone else must play the same suit if they can. If everyone follows, the cards go to the pile and the highest card of that suit leads next.

  3. Thulla!

No card of that suit? Play any other card: a Thulla. The round stops at once, and whoever played the highest card of the suit that was led picks up every card on the table and leads next.

  4. Get away

Play your last card and you are safe. You cannot get away while you have the lead, though: if your last card wins a round where everyone followed suit, you take a card from the pile and play on. The last player holding cards loses.

Good to know

Low cards are safer

When someone gives a Thulla, the highest card of the suit picks up. Playing under the top card keeps you safe; play your highest card when you are last in a round.

Three bot levels

Easy plays almost at random. Normal sheds high cards and avoids suits someone has run out of. Hard counts the cards and keeps track of who is out of which suit.

House rule

Turn on Last card always gets away under Options to let a player whose last card wins a round go out straight away, as many families play.
