Four players in two teams; partners sit opposite. A full pack of 52 cards, 13 each. Aces are high, then King, Queen, Jack, 10 and down to 2. Play goes anticlockwise (to the right).
The four tens are the prize (a ten is a mindi). Win a trick with a ten in it and your team captures that ten. Capture 3 or 4 tens and your team wins the deal. If each team has two, the team that won 7 or more tricks wins.
The player after the dealer leads any card. Everyone must follow the suit led if they can. If you can’t, play anything. The highest card of the suit led wins, unless a trump is played: then the highest trump wins. The winner leads next.
After the first five cards are dealt, the player after the dealer picks one of them and puts it face down. Its suit is trumps, but nobody else knows. The first player who can’t follow suit turns it up; it goes back to its owner, and from then on that suit beats every other suit.
All four tens is a Mendikot: 2 points. All 13 tricks is a whitewash: 3 points. Any other deal won is 1 point. First team to 5 points wins the match.
If the dealer’s team loses, the same player deals again. If it wins, the deal passes to the next player.
Slide along your hand to pick a card, then tap it again (or flick it up) to play. A pink star marks each ten.
House rules: “Hidden, ask” (asking is optional, but if you ask you must trump), “Cut” (the first card played by someone who can’t follow suit sets trumps), “Open” (a card is drawn and shown before the deal), match length, scoring and direction.
